I'm not sure who drew up these weird rules of what the ''ideal'' place to raise a child is. I'm not saying every city is ideal, but not every suburban or rural place is exactly either. One thing I always hear over and over is safety. Unless someone believes what they here in Hollywood, they'd realize cities like NYC, Boston & Chicago are very safe. Someone doesn't have to be a cop to know how to read crime indexes rather than newspaper blogs and let in sink. New York City is ranked the 136th safest city with populations of at least 100,000, tied with Boise, Idaho. I hope that's not ''intimidating.'' Brooklyn is tied with Hartford, CT, a college town. You could see the links and sources provide on Wikipedia.
You may not own real estate (you may rent) or own an apartment with little property (therefore, low property taxes). You'd be able to afford private school (if that's your preference). You wouldn't need to own a car (helping save on not paying car insurance, car loans, wear and tear, gas, ect.). If you were from a suburb in Northern Jersey, if you opt'ed for the city instead you wouldn't have to pay ridiculous property taxes. You'd have a cheap commute to work. Even if people have less children because of expense, there'd be so many children living in such a close proximity that they'd meet other kid's as opposed to setting up ''play dates'' on a cul-de-sac.
There's pros and cons to everything. Besides space though (if that's what someone desires - although it'd be more costly), everything seems to be leaning into the favor of the city. They'd be able to get around as a teenager without you having to chauffeur around everywhere. Wouldn't it be more ideal to be able to see lots of different cultures first hand? Now just people from all over the world, but all over your country too. 85 percent of people don't look the same. Not everyone comes from the same background.

at the begining of 2008 I moved into a small apartment from a house. My brother had extra space in his storage locker so he allowed me to place my studff in his locker. we agreed on half the rent. i lost my job and could not pay for a while. he told me not to worry about it and that I could pay when I had the money. i was 8 months behind.a total of 280 was owed. now i need the stuff out of there. i found out he was two months behind on payments. I paid the storage company 170 for the two months and his late fee. now even though i paid he wont give me the new gate code or key untill i pay the other 110. is there any way I can get my stuff back? i live in Boise,ID and any laws you know wouyld help.

So, I've been job-hunting for months to no avail in my rural town. I have an M.A in English and every job (including minimum wage) has shot me down cold. Most of them said I'm overqualified.
I love my town and my cheap apartment. But the prospects of working in this town are grim and I don't think I'll ever be employed here.
I have some savings. Should I just move to a big city without a job (I'm thinking Boise or somewhere in Texas)?
The reason why I am panicking is because my landlord has been letting me stay in my apartment month-to-month. However, she just told me that she wants to know how much longer I plan to stay because she wants another fixed 9 month lease VERY SOON (which I don't want to be trapped into). I can't afford 9 months rent if I'll be unemployed the whole time.
So should I just pack up and head to a bigger city and look for a job? I figured it would be more economical than flying/driving hundreds of miles for job interviews.

Last week while laying awake in my upper level apartment
I heard something that shocked me. It was late at night
about 1am and the night air was
broken by the sound of a woman saying, "hey, hey, hey".
There was an intense scuffle that accompanied this
sound. The whole espisode lasted only two or three seconds
and then it was quiet again. Behind my apartment complex is
a residential area (houses). I am positive something happened to this woman. (I live in Boise, ID). I called
the police to report this but they said without more information
there was nothing they could do. I have walked the residential
street in front of the houses a few times since but
nothing looks out of the ordinary. What would you suggest I do at this poitn?

Ok so here is the deal, i am planning on moving to Boise, ID from Indiana to go to BSU. I am going to with my boyfriend. Now we want to live together, so we found a nice apartment with affordable rent, and it is .4 of a mile away from the campus. Now my question is what is the difference from living on campus to off campus, and also do you think i made the right choice going with an apartment off campus? Any other info you have, or comments/idea appreciated!!

Does anyone know of any GOOD websites of affordable apartment listings located in Boise, Idaho? I've searched all over the internet and I haven't had much luck, although I did find 1 good website. (www.apartments.com) I still would love to find more sites. Any help WHATSOEVER would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Because of the direction my apartment is facing, I can't get DirectTV, and I probably won't be able to get Dish. So therefore I want the same channels w/o paying for the satellite. I had TimeWarner (orig. Adelphia) back in Ohio and I loved their lineup. All of my favorite channels. I was on the TimeWarner website, and when I put in my zipcode for Garden City, it wouldn't recognize it. So I had to use the closest city, which is Mountain Home. Does this mean I can't get Time Warner here, or is just the nearest office is in Mt.Home? I already looked at the lineup for CableOne, and I am sorely dissappointed. If I cannot get digital cable or a satellite, then I give up!
